Join ATIXA and 21 sex and gender equity organizations to contact your Representative and support the Student Loan Deferment for Sexual Violence Survivors Act (H.R. 7980)
Sponsored by Representative Madeleine Dean (D-PA), the Loan Deferment Bill (H.R. 7980) would create a federal financial aid repayment exception for victims of sexual violence and would have the U.S. Department of Education create a Federal financial aid repayment deferment for victims of sexual violence who temporarily withdraw from college in order to seek treatment and focus on the victim’s mental and physical health rehabilitation.
A History of Title IX: Through the Lens of the Practitioner
In the months leading up to the golden anniversary of Title IX, we celebrate those who made this seminal law possible, those who have benefitted from Title IX to help achieve their dreams, and those Title IX professionals who have dedicated their lives to continuing the fight for sex and gender equity in education.
ATIXA and the New-York Historical Society have partnered in their newest exhibit titled, “Title IX: Activism On and Off the Field.” From May 13, 2022 to September 4, 2022, the Museum will hold this exhibit to immerse visitors in the spaces shaped by the groundbreaking 1972 legislation and reveals the crucial work of activists in demanding that their institutions live up to the law’s promise.

Special 50th Anniversary Edition Time with IX: Discussing the book 37 Words: Title IX and Fifty Years of Fighting Sex Discrimination | June 23, 2022 from 3:00pm-4:30pm ET
Join Saundra K. Schuster, M.S., J.D., Partner, TNG & Advisory Board, ATIXA and Sherry Boschert, author of 37 Words: Title IX and Fifty Years of Fighting Sex Discrimination to discuss the historical legislative and legal drama that conflicts over regulations and challenges to the law. It’s also a human story about women denied opportunities, students struggling for an education free from sexual harassment, and activists defying sexist discrimination. These intersecting narratives of women seeking an education, playing sports, and wanting protection from sexual harassment and assault map gains and setbacks for feminism in the last 50 years and show how some women benefit more than others. Award-winning journalist Sherry Boschert beautifully explores the gripping history of Title IX through the gutsy people behind it.
