CERTIFICATION

To obtain a Civil Rights Investigator Certification, you will need to attend the whole event. What does this certificate mean? It means that you have tapped into the unparalleled expertise of ATIXA and the other carefully selected experts in the field.

Once the course is completed, you will receive your certification from ATIXA. Certificates for this training event will be provided to you electronically via our Continuing Certification Credit (CCC) program system. A member of our team will be in contact with you via email with instructions on accepting your certification credits in the 7-10 business days following the completion of this course. Now you can stay up-to-date! We are excited to announce our online professional development platform called the Continuing Certification Credit (CCC) program. Our CCC program allows clients of The NCHERM Group, including those certified by ATIXA, to track, maintain and extend their professional development through our programs.

FACULTY

Daniel Swinton J.D., Ed.D. is the Managing Partner of The NCHERM Group, LLC. Daniel consults frequently with colleges and universities on issues of Title IX, Campus SaVE and sexual violence, alcohol and other drugs, behavioral intervention, bystander intervention, student conduct policies and procedures, hearing board training, mediation and legal issues in higher education. Daniel often serves institutions as an external investigator for issues of sexual misconduct and other complex student conduct matters as well as employment concerns, retaliation and harassment. He has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on topics ranging from student conduct to civil rights investigations. He is also a frequent presenter and invited speaker at national and regional conferences. Prior to his work with The NCHERM Group, he served as Assistant Dean and Director of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity at Vanderbilt University.

Daniel serves as Associate Executive Director of ATIXA (The Association for Title IX Administrators) and on the Advisory Board of NaBITA (National Behavioral Intervention Team Association). He has also served on the Board for the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA), having served as its President in 2011-2012.

Daniel received his Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, his law degree (J.D.) from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU and a doctorate (Ed.D.) in higher education leadership and policy from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. He is a member of the Tennessee State Bar.

Breakfast, Lunch & Snack Breaks

Our host campus will provide a light continental breakfast and afternoon snack break each day. Lunch each day will be on your own.

Multiple local dining options are within walking distance or a short drive of the classroom facility. There are two options for dining on campus, Scooter’s Place and the Café.

Attire

Attire is business casual with an emphasis on casual.  Room temperatures may vary; layers are encouraged.

Technology

Wireless internet will be available to all attendees.

If wish to use a laptop to take notes, please have your computer fully charged and consider bringing a back-up battery, as there are not enough outlets in the room for individual use. Staff on site will not be available to provide any electrical cords or technological assistance.

Special accommodation parking is available and training facility is wheelchair accessible.
