Joni Baker, Ph.D.

Dr. Joni Baker is the Director of Equal Opportunity and Diversity for The Texas A&M University System, a consortium of eleven universities and seven state agencies.  She has been with the A&M System since 1995.  Prior to that, she was a Diplomat with the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service, having assignments in Asia and Africa.

Dr. Baker has a B.S. degree with a double major in Political Science and Urban Affairs from American University, an M.A. in Government from Georgetown University, and a Ph.D. in Natural Resources Development from Texas A&M University.  She is on the Advisory Board of the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) and is a member of the Texas Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.  Dr. Baker has traveled to more than 70 countries and speaks Swahili, Mandarin Chinese, French, and Spanish.
