Client Need and Issue:
Some community colleges may lack the resources to stand up robust internal training programs, with many relying on external providers for support. Training can tend to be reactive rather than defined, sporadic instead of ongoing, and tactical rather than strategic. Despite being one of the largest community colleges globally, they faced these challenges.
The college needed support to enhance its internal training mechanisms and Title IX complaint management processes, particularly in the areas of compliance and risk management. The director of HR played a critical role in fostering this initiative. Drawing from positive experiences with TNG initiatives at a former employer, this stakeholder engaged TNG for its targeted approach to training and even helped to place TNG with the former employer to fill an interim need it had.
TNG Approach and Solution:
TNG recognized the importance of continuous, comprehensive training tailored to the college’s requirements. The objective was to maintain a high level of compliance, advance institutional goals, and fortify internal training strategies involving all levels of the institutional structure.
TNG established a dedicated 15-day training regimen throughout the year, catering to diverse roles within the college. The training covered essential positions, such as the College President (a few times a year), decision-makers, appeal officers, the Title IX team, and mandated reporting guidelines for frontline staff.
Moreover, TNG’s role extended beyond training to include case management, which created a collaborative environment where understanding was extracted from trainings to inform the nuances of effective and efficient complaint processing.
Outcome:
The partnership between the college and TNG flourished, resulting in a win-win scenario over many years of collaboration. Through TNG’s comprehensive approach to training and case management, the college strengthened its compliance and risk management posture. The college fortified its commitment to continuous improvement and professional development within its institutional framework.
