This one-day course, Title VI Compliance Foundations, provides an in-depth examination of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. The course focuses on the application of Title VI in educational settings, exploring its implications for school districts, colleges, and universities. Expert faculty will explore compliance requirements, policy development, and enforcement mechanisms to ensure educational equity in alignment with these laws. Key topics include the scope of Title VI, the role of the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR), policy development, procedures for handling complaints, and recent OCR resolution agreements. This one-day course, Free Speech and Responding to Protests and Activism in Educational Settings, provides a comprehensive overview of the complexities involved in navigating tensions between freedom of expression and ensuring an educational environment free from harassment and discrimination. ATIXA’s expert faculty will explore schools’ responsibilities in responding to protests, preventing and addressing disruptions, and ensuring that all voices are heard in a respectful and lawful manner. Topics include understanding the limits of free speech, addressing hate speech and harassment, protest management strategies, referral considerations to other institutional support systems or processes, and institutional legal obligations. Through case studies and practical exercises, participants will gain the skills needed to respond to Title VI discrimination and harassment complaints in a timely and equitable manner. Prevention, Program Assessment, and Partnerships

This research-based, practitioner-informed course is focused on institution-wide compliance efforts, including prevention education and programming, leveraging partnerships, and program assessment.

Title IX work often focuses on response, but effective prevention means fewer incidents. It is essential to understand what prevention entails, how it operates, and how it can be optimized to reduce misconduct. ATIXA’s experienced faculty members will guide participants through multiple applied learning exercises related to prevention program planning and evaluation. Additionally, they will address common concerns that emerge in response to disclosures and incidents, known as Secondary Prevention.

Lastly, faculty will present best practices for holistic program assessment, including strategies for implementation and leveraging the assessment data to advocate for policy changes and innovative prevention initiatives. Click here to learn more.

There are scholarships available for the Virtual 2024 Title IX Coordinator Training in Practice Week. Scholarship applications must be submitted by October 11, 2024.

If your application is approved, you will be notified via email 2 weeks prior to your course start date. To apply, click here.

Those attending a certification course will receive a certification for the course as well as recertifying credits (CCCs) for any current certification for a 2-year time period.

All our courses and workshops will receive a digital badge denoting completion.
