Bullying Prevention And Response – Best Practices

Heavily adapted from stopbullying.gov (seems primarily focused on k12 but potentially adaptable)

We know there are behaviors that create an unwelcoming classroom or work environment but aren’t illegal harassment or discrimination. Although schools may not be able to address these behaviors through discrimination/harassment grievance procedures, this doesn’t mean the behaviors should be ignored.

A growing body of research shows that bullying has become a public health issue, especially for youth and children. Left ignored, bullying becomes a problem that puts people at risk. More people understand and agree that bullying is a serious problem, but many wonder, “What do I do now?” This workshop will give you long-term strategies and tools to identify, reduce, and prevent bullying from occurring in your school communities.

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Define bullying and distinguish this behavior from discrimination/harassment
  • Understand the best practices for response to bullying
  • Identify prevention strategies
